Next, prepare to tense all your muscles to the count of three….

Stay focused on your breathing while you sit comfortably or lie down.

Focus on the timing of each breath and think about good it feels to let go. Just listen.

Once you are comfortable breathing to the count of three, try slowing it down to the count of four.

(Increase the numbers to slow down their breathing to a number in which feel they would be comfortable with. At this point, you want to relax their body).

Feel the warmth in your toes? You might question whether or not this sensation is real. Thinking about it makes your toes even warmer.

You’re aware of this warmth, and you feel it moving up your feet and into your ankles. It’s completely relaxing.

Notice this warmth, and how good it feels to let go. Just listen. You’re aware of what’s happening right now.

Focus on your breathing. This feeling is moving slowly up your legs and into your stomach.

Notice how good it feels to relax. Submit to this warmth as as it completely relaxes you. Just listen.

Now this feeling is moving up, into your chest, into your shoulders, down your arms and into your hands. It even reaches to your fingertips.

Concentrate on this feeling and think about how good it feels to relax. Just listen.

This warm sensation is moving up your neck, into your head, and lands on your face. It’s completely relaxing. Think about how good it feels to relax. Just listen.

(At this point, they should be completely under, but it’s always good to do this next part a couple of times, but changing the scenario each time. The following example takes the subject to a cloud, where he or she floats down into a higher state of consciousness — a place where you want to be. Another scenario could take the subject on a walk down a hallway, or anything you feel like saying. Just make sure you are descriptive).

Visualize yourself floating on a cloud…on a beautiful, warm day with a lovely breeze. The sky is so blue, and the cloud is so comfortable.

Think about how good it feels to relax on your cloud. Just listen.

Let’s count from ten to zero…

During this countdown, you’ll feel yourself sinking into a higher state of consciousness. This is good. This is where you want to be. You’re aware of what’s happening. Just listen.
